We provide substitutions and constraints (tempo, ROM, position) so you can train around pain while you fix root causes.
Gym access is essential for lower body injuries, you will need access to a leg extension, hamstring curl machine and a barbell/ smith machine or leg press. If you don't have these at your regular gym, you can usually pay for a 1-off session at a cheap local gym to use the equipment, we can find this for you on the onboarding call. Home gym/minimal equipment can work for upper body injuries if you have between 15-30kg at home, we will adapt the testing and coaching week.
We follow the testing process we used in elite sport to get people back on the pitch, field, court or platform as quickly as possible. We use Data Driven testing to find the root cause of your issue and individualise the micro-cycle and roadmap to your results.

Hi, I’m Alex Dear (The Sports Physio)

This is a 1:1 service where you tell us how much time you have to commit and we fit the programme around your life.
We expect you to do a weekly check-in form which takes 5 minutes per week, but other than that, we normally fit the exercises into the usual training that you are doing.
We typically work with people for 6 months depending on their goals, but most people stick with us for an average of 9 months.
(Though we have had clients who have been with us for 3 years and counting — most clients have multiple progressive goals and love the accountability.)
Going to the gym is not a requirement.
However, to make a full recovery, you may need to go to the gym once every 4–6 weeks to be tested.
The rest of your programme can be adapted to the equipment you have (and tailored to home workouts).
There may be times where you’ll need specific machines or heavier weights — if that’s the case, we’ll work around your preferences as much as possible.
